A Certificate of Good Standing (also called a Certificate of Existence or Status) is issued by the Secretary of State. It confirms your LLC is registered and current on required state filings and fees.
When you may need one
Bank or lender requests
Some banks and payment providers ask for a recent certificate. Each sets its own age limit.
Foreign qualification
Usually required when registering your LLC to do business in another state.
